Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS course is designed to train healthcare professionals to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out of hospital settings. This course trains healthcare professionals to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, provide early use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED), and relieve foreign-body airway obstruction (choking).
This is an instructor led course where students participate in simulated clinical scenarios via the use of manikins and various clinical tools. Students work with an AHA BLS instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Upon successful completion of course, students receive a BLS Provider Course Completion Card.
Certification is valid for 2 years
Course completion time: 3 hours
Course fee: $70
*The AHA requires students have a copy of the current BLS Provider manual before and during the course.
